Your settings stay on your computer.
Updated October 15, 2026. This notice covers the Settings Windows desktop plugin and website by ArkheOS.
What the plugin stores
Settings stores only preferences you explicitly save: writing guidance, blocked terms, and website word limits. Global and project settings are kept in %LOCALAPPDATA%\ArkheOS\Settings\settings.json, or under SETTINGS_DATA_HOME if you set it. The file is local and is not encrypted by the plugin; your Windows account and device protections control access.
What the plugin reads and changes
The copy check reads a static UTF-8 HTML file or folder you specify. It examines visible text in up to 500 HTML files, with a combined limit of 10 MiB. The AGENTS.md tool reads the project file you select. It previews changes by default and writes only its marked section when you set apply=true. The plugin does not automatically scan your computer.
What reaches your conversation
Saved preferences, check results, and AGENTS.md previews returned by the plugin can appear in your Codex or ChatGPT desktop conversation. That host may retain them under its own settings and privacy terms. The plugin executable has no telemetry client, account sign-in, or outbound network requests.
Website and support
This website and download may process ordinary technical request data such as IP address and browser headers. The website does not load advertising or analytics scripts and cannot read your local settings. If you email support, ArkheOS receives the information you choose to send and uses it to respond.
Retention and deletion
Uninstalling Settings leaves its local file in place. To remove all saved Settings data, close the plugin and delete %LOCALAPPDATA%\ArkheOS\Settings, or your chosen SETTINGS_DATA_HOME, after keeping any backup you need. A managed AGENTS.md section stays in each project until you remove it. Contact support@arkheos.ai about support messages or deletion requests.
